HE has worked in the housing sector since 2001, for a national government and a nationwide voluntary organisation. HE IS CO-AUTHOR OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATON'S 2017 PUBLICATION 'HOUSING OUR HOMELESS HOUSEHOLDS', WHICH PROMOTES GOOD PRACTICE IN ADMINISTERING TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION DUTIES
Gary worked for Homeless Link from 2011 to 2016, where he headed-up their strategy and partnership programmes. HE LED ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMMES WITH VOLUNTRAY ORGANISATIONS, SHARED GOOD PRACTICE, AND INNOVATED NEW APPROACHES TO TACKLING HOMELESSNESS. HE ALSO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR OVESEEING EVALUTIONS OF PEOPLE SLEEPING ROUGH ACROSS Greater London AND SOUTH EAST ENGLAND
From 2001 to 2011 GARY worked for the UK Government, initially as a lead officer in the Rough Sleepers Unit, ensuring that the rough sleeping target was met and maintained. Latterly he headed-up the homelessness programme for the Department for Communities & Local Government, achieving a 50% reduction in the number of households in temporary accommodation.
