Long-term funding will help even-up the focus of councils homelessness prevention activity.

The Local Government Association commissioned the Institute for Social Policy, Housing, Equalities Research (I-SPHERE) to carry out research into what central government can do to help councils to effectively prevent homelessness.

The Local Government Association (LGA) commissioned the Institute for Social Policy, Housing, Equalities Research (I-SPHERE) at Heriot-Watt University and Neil Morland & Co Housing Consultants to carry out research into what central government can do to help councils to effectively prevent homelessness.

The research was carried out by Dr Beth Watts, Senior Research Fellow at I-SPHERE and Neil Morland.

The research found that prevention activity in England is unevenly focused and that councils see central government as fundamentally shaping the landscape and context in which councils are able to engage in homelessness prevention activity.
